Interfaith Thanksgiving Prayer Service at Faith Lutheran
The public is cordially invited to join with members of the Churches of the Top O' the Mountain
Ecumenical Council and Congregation B'Nai Harim at Faith Lutheran Church (located on Route 940,
east of the traffic light in Blakeslee) for the Annual Interfaith Thanksgiving Prayer Service.
Several area clergy members will participate.
Pastor Joe Healy of Blakeslee United Methodist Church will offer the sermon, "Time to Give
Thanks". As we gather to give thanks in prayer and song for the blessings in our lives, we will
also share those blessings with people in our community who need assistance. Each congregation
has been invited to bring a basket of non-perishable food for the Ecumenical Food Pantry; there
will also be an opportunity for those gathered to give a monetary offering to assist the work of
the Council, which feeds more than 170 families each month through the Ecumenical Food
Pantry at Christ the King Family Center.
The council also offers assistance for one day emergency shelter, counseling referrals, and a
limited amount of emergency financial assistance for families living in the immediate area.
Families served by our Ecumenical Food Pantry have already submitted the names of their children
to receive Christmas gifts, which will be distributed with the December Food Baskets.
Anyone wishing to buy a gift of clothing for a child is encouraged to take a tag from one of the
council churches and to return a wrapped gift (one package only for each tag taken) by Sunday,
December 7th. (Toys will be provided by the Salvation Army and Toys for Tots.) Ecumenical Council
Churches are Blakeslee United Methodist, Christ the King, Faith Lutheran, Our Lady of the Lake ,
Pocono Lake United Methodist, Pocono Lake Wesleyan, and Salem United Church of Christ.
For directions or more information, please call 646-0309.
