RELIGIOUS SCHOOL NEWSThe Religious School ended on June 12, 2010 with the Bar Mitzvah of Jason Rosenberg. Jason worked hard all year with Gene Schneider, who has so willingly given of his time to help our students prepare for their Bar/Bat Mitzvah. Unfortunately, our wonderful teacher Gabrielle, was ill and couldn’t be at Jason’s simcha. Our students made wonderful get-well cards for Gabrielle and we hope that they provided her with some good cheer. We all wish her a speedy recovery. The Education Committee will be meeting over the summer to plan for the upcoming school year. Our Teen Youth Group, with Robert Cohen as their advisor, participated in a trip to Philadelphia’s Drexel University where they had the opportunity to visit with some of the Drexel Hillel members. It gave them a chance to discuss a variety of topics such as being Jewish on a college campus, discussing college life, etc. The students and our teen group then went to Penn’s Landing for the Israeli Day Parade and ended with dinner at a Kosher Chinese Restaurant. A fun day was had by all. A sincere “thank you” to Maria Cohen for her participation as an additional chaperone. My best wishes to everyone for a very healthy, safe and wonderful summer. I look forward to seeing you in the fall. Barbara Kapitansky, Education Committee Chair |
